The Historical City

Girona is a medium-sized city, a province capital, located 70 meters above sea level and to 30 kilometres to the main Costa Brava beaches and to 50 to the ski run in Vallter.

It is not unusual that at the very same day a person could be practicing skiing while others are having a swim in the sea, enjoying a sunny day. Its population does not reach the one hundred thousand, that is to say they could be all fit in the Camp Nou and there would be still free sits.

But this is far to be an inconvenient, since it guarantees rest and tranquillity both to the native and to the outsider who visits the city.

The Cathedral

The present cathedral, located in a high point in La Força Vella, where in times of its foundation there was a Roman temple, is the result of a variety of styles. From the Romanesque building that substituted the temple survive the cloister and a part of a tower called “Carlemany”.

Sant Feliu

This church was during some time the city cathedral. It was built between the 12th and the 14th Centuries. It has a peculiar and slender architectural style and a gothic nave with a chapel devoted to the city’s patron saint “Sant Narcis” with his tomb.
